The Battler starts Hamilton Island Race Week
It was a proud moment for Peter Teakle as he took the helm of his Riviera 56, one of the official press boats for the 2009 Audi Hamilton Island Race Week.
Set in the idyllic Whitsundays, the grueling competition attracted a record 194 yachts vying for first place at the premiere regatta, which was held between August 22 and 29.
After eight days of competition, 55-footer Living Doll from Victoria finished the race series with top scores.
The event was the brainchild of David Hutchen who moved to the Whitsundays with his yacht, Banjo Paterson, in 1983. The first race was held in April 1984 and has since become one of Hamilton Island's and the Whitsundays most popular events.
The next Audi Hamilton Race Week will be held in August 2010.
