A bloody good effort for Riviera
Queensland, Australia: It was an A+ effort for staff at Riviera who were awarded the Red Cross Blood Service’s Bloodislow Cup for the 5th consecutive year.
The Bloodislow Cup is a corporate challenge among Gold Coast businesses to see who can make the most blood donations throughout the year.
It was a close competition this year with Riviera narrowly winning the corporate challenge by one per cent percent. Riviera collected 211 donationa throughout the last financial year, helping to save 633 lives.
Red Cross Blood Service’s community relations officer Stephanie Allen said Riviera made a huge contribution to the stock levels.
“It’s great to come out to a site that is so dedicated to donating. Riviera is one of the only companies on the Gold Coast who have us visit every three months so there is a lot of dedication and camaraderie from staff,” Stephanie said.
“Riviera also deserves a pat on the back for having a high percentage of staff donating. The national average is three percent and Riviera almost triples that at 15 to 20 percent.”
Riviera’s Club Red co-ordinator Tony Schmid congratulated all staff for their tremendous contribution and effort over the past 12 months.
“It is the people at Riviera who make these donation days a success and I commend their enthusiasm and dedication,” Tony said.
“We are proud to have won the Bloodislow Cup for the 5th consecutive year, it is a great achievement and very rewarding. One blood donation can save three lives and I am honoured that Riviera has played a significant part in helping others.”
Stephanie said Tony’s commitment to blood donation was something to be admired.
“I also commend Tony for his dedication to donating blood and even though he can’t physically donate anymore he still continues to actively contribute by organising 200 plus blood donations every year, which is an amazing achievement,” Stephanie said.
