Riviera Makaira Bullfight a challenge for anglers

Cairns, Australia:  Keen anglers braved the windy conditions as they vied for the biggest catch at the annual Riviera Makaira Bullfight challenge in Cairns.

Hosted by Yorkeys Knob Boat Club and sponsored by Riviera, the annual fishing tournament attracted more than 20 boats, including about three Rivieras, chasing black marlin, billfish, Spanish mackerel and tuna.

As the week progressed the wind picked up to 25 knots but this did not deter the die hard anglers on board Rivieras, as these luxury vessels are designed to take on rough and blustery conditions with ease, and by Saturday the conditions had changed as the wind dropped to under five knots.

There was plenty of angling action with the tournament winner, Sea nami, hooking up a 26 kilogram wahoo.

It was a challenging and eventful six days and Riviera looks forward to sponsoring the 2011 Makaira Bullfight.
