Riviera set to sizzle at Melbourne summer boat show MELBOURNE, AUSTRLIA; FEBRUARY 2010: Australia’s largest luxury boat builder, Riviera, will commence the boat show season with six boats on display at the 2010 Melbourne International Boat and Lifestyle Show in February. It is the largest outdoor lifestyle event in Victoria this summer and will showcase more than $100 million worth of boats on the water, including the Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht with IPS. This will mark the first time Riviera has showcased this model at the Melbourne International Boat and Lifestyle Show. Riviera will also showcase the 4400 Sport Yacht with IPS and from the Flybridge range the 38, 41, 47 series II and the 51, which is now available with IPS. Sprawling from Docklands’ NewQuay down to the festive piazza at Waterfront City, the event will entertain children and adults alike with a range of activities such as gourmet food, wine, fashion, sailing and canoeing, boat rides, live music and giveaways. R Marine Jacksons dealer principal Stuart Jackson said Riviera had held a strong presence at the Melbourne International Boat and Lifestyle Show for the past five years. “It has always been a successful show for us with new Riviera sales and is a great way to start the Australian boat show season,” Mr Jackson said. “At this year’s show we are proud to display the first 3600 Sport Yacht with IPS in Victoria.” Internally, the major change is the larger aft cabin that runs across the full beam of the boat while externally, the most striking change is bonded glass windows each side of the hull that add natural light into the aft cabin. This two cabin/one bathroom cruiser exudes style and is packed with all the modern conveniences you would expect from a Riviera, making it the ultimate in lifestyle-orientated vessels. The standard layout is an open cockpit with room to set up a table and casual folding chairs. Optionally, a lounge runs across the transom behind a folding teak table with high/low pedestal to convert to a sun lounge. A large hatch in the cockpit floor opens on an electric actuator to provide access to the engine room. A smaller hatch close to the forward glass bulkhead offers access for routine maintenance. In the saloon, an aft galley is complete with electric cooktop, microwave oven and under-bench refrigerator with freezer compartment. Increased demand for new models has resulted in Riviera ramping up its 2010 new model development program with several new models due for release, and has increased its new product development workforce considerably by head hunting people from across the business because of their specialist skills and knowledge.
