4400 Sport Yacht Series II with IPS
ENTIRELY HARMONIOUS

Pacific Motor Yacht - New Zealand

"The marriage of boat and power was in fact entirely harmonious in every aspect; a positive ride (the boat went where you steered it!), speed was maintained and without cavitation in the tightest of turns at 27 knots, and the ride level was good. But for me, unreservedly, the single biggest attribute of these drives was the brilliant docking capabilities. I had three sentences, or about a minute and a half of tuition, and having never used IPS before, I berthed the 4400 in the tight space, and in those winds, like a veteran. No need for bow or stern thrusters, big fenders or any other ancillary 'aids'. So many people are put off boating by the fear of having to berth their boats in any kind of wind or in tight spaces; with stupendous ease this took all the heartache out of the equation!"

REVOLUTIONARY POWER

Sydney Morning Herald - Australia

"Interestingly, the boat was designed around a pair of Volvo Penta electronic engines with the revolutionary Inboard Performance System. The twin IPS 600 use D6 electronic motors that each produce 435hp but which apparently perform like twin 600hp engines. Volvo Penta says that you get up to 20 per cent more top-end speed, 15 per cent greater acceleration, up to half the perceived noise levels and vibration, easier handling and, importantly for us, 30 per cent better cruising range than a shaft-driven vessel."

- David Lockwood

FUEL SAVING

Boats & Yachting magazine - Malta

"As with all other IPS powered boats, the savings on fuel economy are significant and we were cruising at around 26 knots using around 55 litres of fuel per engine per hour. We could tell this thanks to the wizardry Riviera include in their dashboard, which includes a car styled trip computer which also informs you of your current consumption."

WHISPER QUIET

Sydney Morning Herald - Australia

"What impressed this cruising buff [even more] was how quite the boat was.  As the Volvo Penta engines are mounted under the cockpit floor instead of under the saloon floor, there's a lot less noise indoors.  With the saloon door shut, the generator running and the air-conditioning on about 21C, it was champagne sailing at 25-30knots."

- David Lockwood

LITTLE BIT OF A TWIST

Docklines Magazine - Australia

"The 4400 was designed around the Volvo Penta IPS (Inboard Performance System)... Push the little joystick forward and you go forward. Pull it back, and sure enough you go backwards. Push it sideways and the boat goes - wait for it - sideways. Twist it and the 4400 spins on its own access. If the boat is affected by wind when you're going sideways, a little bit of a twist takes care of it... If you know anything about boats. If you have any interest at all, you need to add IPS to that list of things to try before you die. This is a very classy boat indeed. It has the equipment levels you would expect, but it is lithe to handle. And - very importantly -on Sunday arvo you won't make a dill of yourself as you put her back in the berth."

ROBUST HULL

Sydney Morning Herald - Australia

"This was also the first Riviera with a resin-infused hull achieved by vacuum bagging vinylester resin around a Divinycell foam core.  This way, you get a more precise mix and, therefore, reduced weight and better strength.  I'm told the hull is about one tonne lighter than a traditional hand laid 44-footer.All the hatches and various other moulded components are also made in closed moulds, thereby saving more weight."

- David Lockwood

OPTIONS INCLUDED

Lakeland Boating Magazine - USA

"Overall, the option list is rather short because most everything you'll want comes included - air-conditioning, simulated teak Amtico flooring throughout the interior, even the towels and bed linens."

OUTDOOR LIVING

Gold Coast Bulletin - Australia

"The cockpit is probably where people will spend most of their time. There is a full length lounge across the transom, with a table. It's made for al fresco dining, and we did just that as Billy went to work on the barbecue."

- Kevan Wolfe

BOAT FOR ALL SEASONS

Lakeland Boating Magazine - USA

"The two-cabin, two-head 4400 SY boasts an enclosed main deck - you're surrounded by a solid enclosure that's rain-, wind-, and chill-proof - allowing you to extend your season by at least a few weeks at both ends. However, when the weather is good, you can open up and let in the great outdoors. A large powered sunroof in the hardtop comes standard. the forward half of the side windows slides aft and completely overlaps the rear. Then there's the cabin's aft bulkhead. A heavy stainless steel framed door is to starboard. The top half of the rest of the space is taken by a similarly framed glass window. Open the door, lift the window and secure it to the underside of the hardtop for a feeling of expansiveness. The cockpit becomes part of the saloon."

LUXURY FINISH

Boast & Yachting magazine - Malta

"The finishing is spectacular. I have rarely seen such quality of materials being used on a prodcution boat. Every nook and cranny in the saloon has been utilised to give owners as much sensible stroage as was deemed possible. Everything seems to built of seriously thick cherry wood and lavish materials, enhancing the sensation of being on a luxury yacht."

EASY DOCKING

Gold Coast Bulletin - Australia

"With the IPS comes the joystick docking system and Jim suggested Jan try docking the boat.  By this time the wind was honking onto the marina at 25 knots or so and had never used the joystick system before.Undaunted, and with a little coaching, she docked the boat alongside so softly it barely touched the pontoon"

- Kevan Wolfe

WINNING FORMULA

Boast & Yachting magazine - Malta

"I really believe that Riviera have hit the winning formula with this boat."

"I can't wait to try out more of the Riviera range locally, because from what I've seen in this boat, the brand has really hit the European market spot on and then added loads of extras to sweeten the deal. If money can't buy you love, spec level just might."
